Mother Theresa (1910-1997) studied homeopathy from Dr. Diwan Jai Chand (1887-1961) a well-known homeopath. Mother Theresa prescribed homeopathic remedies in first aid situations, she was reported to say that she “believes that homeopathic treatment is indispensable for the poor and distressed people in India in particular, (and) other countries of the world in general, for its easy approach, effectiveness and low cost”. Mother Theresa opened a charitable homeopathic dispensary in Calcutta in 1950 and it is reported that Mother Theresa prescribed homeopathic medicines herself and assisted homeopathic physicians (Ullman D, 2007, pg. 338)
